Overhauling a 600k Car Shredder at Evraz Recycling

ICM overhauled the car shredder, a 600k pound piece of equipment, at Evraz Recycling in Denver. The concrete foundation the shredder sits on had weakened and was in need of repair.

In only 29 days, we demoed the shredder and its foundation and rebuilt the entire thing, putting the shredder back together in the exact same sequence we removed it in.

Expanding a Fire Station at Fort Carson

We recently helped to expand the primary fire station at Fort Carson, a well-known Army base located on the southwest side of Colorado Springs that deploys combat-ready expeditionary forces whenever duty calls. Due to an increase in capacity at the base, the existing, primary fire station needed to be expanded in order to effectively meet the necessary response time for fire rescue.

General contractor Tepa hired ICM to build an auxiliary support facility that would house the fire trucks, hoses and other equipment needed to support the primary fire station. The support facility would also serve as the wash bay for the trucks to keep them clean and in top working condition.

Over the course of just ten months, ICM installed the structural steel foundation and concrete slab on grade, as well as erected the pre-engineered metal building that would serve as the support facility structure. Over 1.9 tons of steel was used for the foundation, 35,000 feet of slab on grade was used for the concrete, and the pre-engineered metal building measured approximately 48,000 square feet.

Engaging a Younger Construction Workforce

“There is no one easy solution for fueling the next generation of construction workers, but several efforts working in tandem can start to create more awareness and interest in the trades, which offer exciting, profitable careers that can be obtained without taking on a lot of debt.”

Rick Goodmay, our Director of Client Relations, wrote about how to engage a younger workforce in Mile High CRE. Read the full article here.
